The Flag of the Scottish Covenanters. They were Presbyterians sworn to defend their religion, part of a Protestant effort to seize power in Scotland against the English. In 1643 their Solemn League and Covenant was accepted by the English Parliament. The words on the flag read Covenants for Religion, King, and Kingdoms
