The Flag Lieutenant by Major WP Drury and Leo Trevor
The Flag Lieutenant by Major W. P. Drury and Leo Trevor. First produced at the Playhouse Theatre in London on 16th June 1908 showing Cyril Maude in the title role. Already having played to over 300 Performances at The Playhouse, Charing Cross in 1909, the play was revived at the Haymarket Theatre in London starting on 28th November 1914. The outbreak of war would have inspired the revival of this patriotic play. The photo of Maude is adapted from a photo in The Play Pictorial, an English theatrical magazine which was published in London between 1902 and 1939. It concentrated on providing a pictorial record of West End theatrical productions, each issue being devoted to a single show, with descriptions of the plot, the costumes and the sets, and numerous photographs of the cast and scenes from the production. Date: 1914
