When Austria declared war on Serbia, Russia ordered a partial mobilisation of her army. Germany demanded that the Czar countermand this mobilisation within 12 hours, but this was rejected by Russia. The Russian people assembled on the Nevsky Prospect in Petrograd, cheering for the Czar and the war. Date: 1914
