A page in The Sphere magazine from 1911, which gives a no-holds-barred critique of the newly unveiled Queen Victoria Memorial monument in the Mall, London in front of Buckingham Palace. Among its criticisms are the mammoth mothers with uninviting offspring, a bulgy headed boy, a tortured mermaid and an incorrect Coat of Arms on the West Side of the Memorial. Clearly, they weren t impressed. The memorial was sculpted by Sir Thomas Brock with the architectural surround by Sir Aston Webb.
