The Clown Grimaldi Performing on a Cart
An illustration of the famous clown Grimaldi (1777-1837) performing, presumably the pantomime " Golden Fish". He is shown in a cart being pulled by dogs, one of which has a cockerel riding it. Grimaldi himself is in clown attire with an upturned bowl on his head, with a cockerel on top of that. He is holding a ribbon stick and blowing natural trumpet. Date: circa 1820
