The Cawnpore(Kanpur) Memorial, near the site of the massacre by Nana Sahibs forces in 1857. An angel of pity, sculpted in white marble by Baron Marochetti, covers the site of the well, encircled by an octagonal gothic screen.The dried up well was used to dispose of the bodies of British women and children during the Indian Mutiny of 1857, in what became known as the Bibighar massacre.
