Ad鬩e penguin Pygoscelis adeliae
Ad鬩 e penguin specimen collected during Scotts British Antarctic Expedition 1910-1913, also known as the Terra Nova expedition, by expedition surgeon Murray Levick. This Ad鬩 e penguin has a mutation its feathers have reduced pigment and would have been bleached by sunlight. They can become almost white. Levick conducted one of the earliest detailed studies of Ad鬩 e penguins. For three months, he observed the behaviour of the penguins during their breeding season. It was the first study of its kind. This penguin from Cape Adare was collected and prepared by Murray Levick in 1911. Date: 1911
