1937 Coronation - spectators in Trafalgar Square
A section of the huge crowd in Trafalgar Square standing by the crush barrier after waiting all night to watch the Coronation procession of King George VI. By 2am the square was almost full and long before the first procession the gates had to be closed. Note the policeman in the background, climbing on one of the Trafalgar Square lions, presumably to shoo away climbers! Date: 1937
