The two elder daughters of Princess Alice, Grand Duchess of Hesse and Grand Duke Ludwig (Louis) of Hesse. On the left is Princess Victoria (1863-1950), who became Princess Louis of Battenberg and is the grandmother of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. On the right is Elisabeth ( Ella - 1864-1918), later Grand Princess Elizaveta Feodorovna. Both children are dressed as Hessian peasants
