WW2 - Women painting Ships - War Effort
The original image caption states: " The Womens place in the British scheme of things. The place of wmen in wartime England is no longer the home. Each day women begin to take over more and more of the tasks formerly done by the men who are now taking part in Britains war effort. From painting ships (pictured) to keeping the hedges of Old England neat is all in a days work as the ladies of England " see it through". These women whose husbands are serving with the forces, tackle their job of painting a ship in a British port with plenty of vim and vigour, and they do a REAL JOB of painting!" Date: 1941
