Womans Relief Corps

A beautiful gilded and embossed postacrd promoting the viryue and history of the Womans Relief Corps - a charitable society to provide local relief work among the needy and to aid military veterans. The Womens Corps began in 1869 and in Kansas the first corps was formed at Leavenworth in 1883, by Mrs. Emily Jenkins and eleven other women. It is likely this card celebrated (in 1908) the 25th anniversary of the foundation of this branch of the Corps. Date: 1911
