A page from The Tatler reporting with photographs on a tennis tournament held in aid of the Star and Garter Home Fund for Disabled Soldiers, which took place on the 15 July 1916. It was a mixed doubles tournament and various society people took part including, clockwise from top left, the Hon. Mrs John Ward, Mrs Winston (Clementine) Churchill, Miss Greenwood, Countess Pauline Pappenheim, H.M. The Queen of Portugal and all-round action woman Lady Drogheda with her partner Mr O. G. Toler. Notable tennis personalities who took part (but who are not pictured) were Dorothea Lambert Chambers and Mr Wallis Myers. Date: 1916
