Versailles - France
Versailles - France - The Palais is enormous and seems quite unliveable. Took a tour of many of the rooms and also saw automatic clock strike the hour - first 2 birds peeped and flapped their wings (all gold) then 2 goblins of war came out of 2 doors and were struck back in by 2 little men with mallets, then Louis XIV came out of a door and a cherub flew down and crowned him and a sun came out of a cloud; then a tune played on the bells like a music box, for about a minute. At the end Louis went back in the cherub asnd sun and the clock struck 12 - typical of the palaces extravagance. Date: 1951
