Turnov - Czech Republic
Turnov - Czech Republic. The town was founded on a headland above the Jizera River. Turnov often suffered from incursions of foreign troops - Lusation Knights burned it down in 1468 and Swedes sacked the city in 1643. Industry was based on crafts such as baked glass composites (artificial precious stones), cutting actual precious stones and the production of jewellery from both. Today the city is a tourist centre in Bohemia
