The Temple of Hercules Victor - Rome
The Temple of Hercules Victor ( Hercules the Winner ) (Tempio di Ercole Vincitore) or Hercules Olivarius in Piazza Bocca della Verita, Forum Boarium, Rome, Italy. A monopteros, a round temple of Greek peripteral design completely encircled by a colonnade. This layout caused it to be mistaken for a temple of Vesta (as captioned on this card!) until it was correctly identified by Napoleons Prefect of Rome, Camille de Tournon. Date: circa 1910
