In 1865, Brunels Great Eastern set out on a second attempt to but the expedition had to be called off. A year later, the first successful laying of a transatlantic cable between Foilhommerum Bay, Ireland to Hearts Content, Newfoundland also recovered the abandoned 1865 cable. Date: 1866
