Tatler front cover featuring Prince Alexander of Battenberg (1886-1960), later Marquess of Carisbrooke, son of Princess Beatrice (Princess Henry of Battenberg) and Lady Irene Denison, only daughter of Lord and Lady Londesborough pictured shortly after announcing their engagement. The Battenberg name was anglicised to Mountbatten shortly after this picture was published and Alexander was created Marquess of Carisbrooke in November 1917. Irene consequently became Marchioness of Carisbrooke. Date: 1917
