St. Dunstans Bazaar at the Albert Hall, WW1
Ladies pose by the stall run by actress Miss Lily Elsie (Mrs Ian Bullough) at the Albert Hall in aid of the funds of St. Dunstans Hostel for blinded soldiers, a charity founded and run by Sir Arthur Pearson. The bazaar was opened by Queen Alexandra on 7th May 1917 and ran until the 10th. Sir Arthur Pearson in a speech on the occasion explained the After-Care scheme, which was designed to rehabilitate and forward the interests of those who passed through St. Dunstans as well as those still there learning trades.
