A Snapper-up of Unconsidered Trifles by William Heath Robins
Detailed colour illustration by William Heath Robinson (1872-1910) for the Midsummer number of the Graphic showing an elf, or possibly goblin in a fantastical country setting. This 1910 contribution shows Heath Robinsons early style which seems influenced by Arthur Rackham (though he was later to parody Rackham in the Bystander later that year). Robinson was a regular contributor to the Sketch, the Bystander and other ILN titles during his lifetime. His weekly drawings featuring mind-boggling contraptions and designs were immensely popular.
