Sitters to John Laverys Their Majesties Court
Three of the many sitters included in Their Majesties Court by John Lavery, a painting now lost. The three ladies, painted in their court dress and shown in photograph are, from left, Miss Margaret Whigham (later Mrs Charles Sweeny and then Duchess of Argyll), Lady Patricia Moore and Miss Diane Chamberlain. The painting was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1932, causing quite a stir. A black and white reproduction of the completed full painting is image number 10587855. Date: 1932
