Sam and Carter Livesey - The Village Blacksmith

Sam Livesey ) a British film and stage actor and his brother Carter (or Joseph) Livesey (rear). Here the brothers perform in their joint touring production of The Village Blacksmith, a vintage melodrama culminating in a famous wrestling match (pictured here). For more than a decade, the show was a huge hit with performances at myriad locations from the Theatre Royal Bristol to tents on village greens. The brothers flung themselves with alarming enthusiasm into the final triumph of Sam (the grand hero!), over Carter (the mustachioed villain!). Date: circa 1905
