Front cover of The Sketch showing the newlywed Duke and Duchess of York. Prince Albert, Duke of York (later King George VI) married Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon on 26 April 1923. They spent their honeymoon at Polesden Lacey, a country estate in Surrey and are shown here at Bookham Station on their way. The Duchess wore a dress and coat of dove grey crepe embroidered romain with a small brown hat, an ensemble specially chosen to allow the crowds to see her face. Date: 1923
