Royal wedding 1863 - exhibition of gifts
The exhibition of royal wedding presents in the then new north court at the South Kensington Museum, later known and the Victoria and Albert Museum. The Illustrated London News reports that such was the popularity of the exhibtion that on one Monday when entry was free, 20, 467 people were admitted, as well as 372 babes in arms. The gifts come from the wedding of Princess Alexandra of Denmark(Princess of Wales)(1844-1925)on the occasion of her marriage to Edward Prince of Wales(later Edward VII)(1841-1910)in London on 10th March 1863.
