Royal Horticultural Society gardens at South Kensington

Opening of the Royal Horticultural Societys gardens at South Kensington, London : the winter garden or conservatory. The gardens were opened by Prince Albert, the Prince Consort, for their first fruit and flower show, and were based on land purchased out of the surplus funds of the Great Exhibition, and leased to the RHS. The garden was closed in 1882. Date: 1861
