Royal bridesmaid - Hon. Diamond Hardinge
Diamond Evelyn Violet Hardinge (1900 - 1927), daughter of Charles Hardinge, 1st Baron Hardinge of Penshurst, married name Abercromby. Diamond was one of the eight bridesmaids attending Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon for her marriage to Prince Albert, Duke of York on 26 April 1923 at West minster Abbey. At the time she was engaged herself to be married to Captain Robert Abercromby of the Scots Guards. Having lost her mother as a teenager, Diamond acted as hostess at the British Embassy in Paris during her fathers term of office there and, according to The Sketch, is a very charming girl.
