Romania - Galati
During the Russo-Turkish War, Romania fought on the Russian side and in the 1878 Treaty of Berlin, Romania was recognized as an independent state by the Great Powers. This rather remarkable card shows Carol I Domnitor of Romania (1866 - 1881) and King of the Romanians (1881 - 1914), with Russian Tsar Alexander II accepting the surrender of the Ottoman Empire forces from Osman Nuri Pasa. Date: 1881
