Prince Albert opens Art Treasures Exhibition
The opening ceremony of the Art Treasures Exhibition, Manchester. The exhibition was held in an iron and glass structure, similar to the Crystal Palace, in the Old Trafford area of the city. It was reputedly the largest art exhibition held in the UK, with over 16, 000 works, and was opened by Prince Albert. Here, the opening address is presented to Albert. Date: 5 May 1857
