Prayer Hall of the Great Mosque of Algiers, Algeria
Interior view of the Great Mosque of Algiers (Djamaa al-Kebir) at Algiers, Algeria, North Africa. One of the few remaining examples of Almoravid architecture, built in the 11th century. As seen on this postcard, the prayer hall is subdivided into eleven balatat (naves) supported by whitewashed masonry pillars. Each nave is crowned by a double sloping roof known as a Moorish Arch. Date: circa 1908
