A woman in despair over her drowning soldier husband who whilst rowing broke an oar and fell into the water. Realising his fate he bids fond farewell to his wife, Dolly. A postcard illustrating the lyrics of William D. Cobb (1876-1930) who wrote the song Goodbye Dolly Gray which was written during the Spanish American war in 1898 but gained wide spread popularity during the Boer War. Date: 1903
