United States Navy - Richmond Naval Air Station (Richmond NAS), just west of Miami, showing the destroyed, huge, airship hangars which burnt down during Hurricane Nine on 15 September 1945 (three years, to the day, after the air station was commissioned). The hurricane ignited a fire in an adjacent building which spread to Three Airship hangars destroying 25 blimps, 366 airplanes, and 150 automobiles which were stored inside for shelter from the storm, which was also known as the 1945 Homestead hurricane.
