United States Air Force - Douglas C-47B-1-DK (msn ). Delivered to the United States Army Air Force in August 1944 September 1944: 37th Troop Carrier Squadron, 316th Troop Carrier Group, Ninth Air Force, at RAF Cottesmore (Station 489). 21 March 1945 : temporary duty at RAF Wethersfield (Station 170) 24 March 45: transported 9th Parachute Battalion to a drop zone at the southern edge of the Diersfordt, three mile Northwest of Wesel, Germany on Operation Varsity. May 1950: 7167 Air Transport Squadron of the Military Air Transport Service, United States Air Force as O-48403. January 1967 to September 1968: 322 Air Division 7101 ABW 7167 ARS, to VC-47B. 30 October 1970: Struck off charge at Sondre Stromfjord for spares recovery following damage on arrival in Greenland whilst en-route to retirement at MASDC. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
