Neilson NC-1 Golden Bear - aka Coach NC883E
Neilson NC-1 Golden Bear (aka Coach) X883E (later NC883E), built by the (Thomass & Duncan S) Neilsen Steel Aircraft Co, Berkeley CA. at Berkeley airport around the time of its first flight. The NC-1 was a 3-seat cabin monoplane powered by a 130hp Comet 7-D radial engine. Designed by Richard Korman as a fabric-covered high-wing monoplane, the NC-1 was first flown in 1929, survived until it was destroyed by an angry crowd at a thrill show at Oakland Speedway in Aug 1939 after its performance failed to meet their expectations.
