Chase XC-123A 47-787, jet-powered assault transport - powered assault glider. 47-787 was ordered on 2 December 1946 as a Chase XCG-20 assault glider prototype for Project MX-879. The Chase Aircraft Corporation designation was MS-8. Redesignated as XG-20 on 11 June 1948, 47-787 was converted to the sole XC-123A jet-powered transport. After reversion to C-123 standard 787 was again converted as the Stroukoff YC-123D. with two Pratt and Whitney R-2800 engines, for boundary layer control trials, but was given a new serial of 53-8068. Date: circa 1951
