Boeing YB-52 Stratofortress 49-0231
Boeing YB-52 Stratofortress 49-0231 (msn 16249). The second B-52, initially ordered as an XB-52 and made the first B-52 flight on 15 April 1952, due to XB-52 49-230 having a hydraulic snag. Donated to the United States Air Force Museum at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio but scrapped in the mid 1960s apparently as a result of President Lyndon Johnsons wifes proposal to clean up surplus military hardware.
