Pattern 1796, Light Cavalry Officers sword, 15th Hussars.Blade is curved and fullered with engraved decoration in the linear style typical of the period, the decoration includes floral designs, Trophies of Arms and, under the langet, the letters A.S.B.Steel stirrup guard with scalloped edged langets; leather covered grip with some double twisted wire binding remaining.Royal United Service Institute list states this was carried by Col Henry Lane, 15th Hussars, at the battle of Waterloo; the colonel assisted Sibourne in the building of the Waterloo Model; the letters A.S.B probably refer to the maker on account of their position.Associated with Napoleonic Wars, Waterloo (1815).
