Soldiers at the entrance to the Orchard Convalescent Hospital at Long Reach, near Dartford, during its First World War deployment as a military hospital for overseas troops, mainly Australians. The hospital was originally opened by the Metropolitan Asylums Board in 1902 as temporary accommodation a smallpox epidemic. Date: circa 1916
