WW1 Home Front - British Red Cross Hospital at Netley - Group photograph of the patients, officers and nursing team outside their hut erected by W. E. Whineray Esq. of Neston, Cheshire. William Whineray who had made a fortune from cotton, was a hearty philanthropist throughout the war years - he lived at Leighton Court in Neston and fitted up a workshop in his garden to manufacture munitions, probably shells cases or bullets. Date: 1917
