Tamamushi Zushi, Japanese Miniature Temple, Horyuji Temple, near Nara, Japan. Tamamushi signifies Chrysochroa elegans, an insect with golden wings, suggested in the embossed decorations shaped like wings on the base of the plinth. Over 7 feet high, it is built of Japanese cypress, and is more than 13 centuries old, created during the reign of the Empress Suiko, who ruled from 593 to 628 AD. It closely resembles the Kondo pavilion. Date: circa 1930s
