Kolk Kade Quay, Rotterdam
Barges of a German flotilla moored at Kolk Kade, a large quay in the Dutch port city of Rotterdam. Due to a significant increase in inland shipping, large amounts of German Rhine traffic accessed the North Sea through here, and the vast barges are used for commerce and, if necessary, military purposes. They weigh 600 tons and are over 200 feet long. Date: 1909
