Knaresborough Castle
A landscape oil painting of a series of woodlands with a foreground clearing, encapsulating a view of Knaresborough castle, looming in the background, in north Yorkshire. The fortress overlooks the river Nidd, and was build circa 1100, by a Norman baron. Hugh de Moreville used this place for refuge, after assassinating Thomas Becket of Canterbury. Date: circa 1920
