Charing Cross Station, Underground
This painting provides a view looking down upon the entrance to Charing Cross Underground Station, opened originally in 1864 by South Eastern Railway. The station suffered severe damage from an engineering accident in 1905, and was thus thoroughly rebuilt, becoming a popular meeting point for military and government personnel during WW1. Date: circa 1920
