Brendan Behan (Brendan Francis Behan, 1923-1964), Irish poet, short story writer, novelist and playwright who wrote in both Irish and English. He was also an Irish republican and IRA volunteer. He died in his early 40s as a result of heavy drinking. Date: circa 1940s
