Two Zouave soldiers awarded The Croix de guerre (plus star) for their role in combat during WW1. This medal was commonly bestowed on foreign military forces allied to France. Zouaves were a light-infantry corps in the French army, originally formed of Algerians and long retaining their oriental-style uniform. Date: circa 1916
