Bamboo and its uses in China 1867
Bamboo grow wild very quickly in China because of it warm climate, often rises to the height of sixty or eighty feet with a hollow stem, or even three to four inches in one day. Every part was used to make floating boats, sails and oars for fishermans boats, hunting weapons bows, arrows and spears, buildings, flooring, fences, pulp for which paper was made, stuffing for pillows, evens when the plants grows older a sweet juice gradually collects in the hollow joints making a pleasant drink.
