Albert, Duke of York lays foundation stone Dunkirk Memorial
Prince Albert, Duke of York (future King George VI) (1895-1952) - at the ceremony to lay the foundation stone of the Dunkirk British War Memorial in Northern France. Pictured between the Mayor of Dunkirk (right) and the Prefect of the Port (left). The Memorial took the form of a Merchant Service Club and Seamens Institute, thus providing an inspiring use to a tragic memory as the Duke stated in his speech. Date: 1922
