Alexander Club in Rome - The NaFI (Navy, Army and Air Force Institute) had commandeered a department store about the size of Londons Selfridges. It was called the Alexander Club after the Allied commander Harold Alexander, 1st Earl Alexander of Tunis. Its many floors centred around an internal, roofed, open space on the floor of which was a pool with goldfish and a fountain! The Writing Rooms. Date: circa 1944
