A tea ship, the Loudoun Castle (spelt Louden Castle in the picture), from Hankow, China, commencing unloading ( breaking bulk ). The ship discharged from her vast hold 40, 000 packages of tea. A hundred of these packages go to a break, while two out of each break are opened for samples. These are handed to brokers clerks who hasten with them to the City warehouses of merchants. The clerks are seen on board the ship, while Chinese sailors unload the vessel. Date: 1877
