Jebis (also known as Jebisu) is known in Japanese mythology as the younger brother of the sun deity. He lived by fishing and after his death, Jebis was worshiped as god of the sea as well as one of the seven gods of wealth. He is represented as the god of waters and the protector of sailors and fishermen. He is often depicted sitting on a lotus-flower, or rock, with a line and a fish in his hands. Date: 1731
