Glass blowing 1872
A boy sitting on the ground holding a pot of liquid glass or metal, which has been melted from soda, sand and other substances by heat of a great furnace. The man standing above him has in his hand a hollow iron tube, four or five feet long which he first stirs round to take up as much of the metal as he requires and blows through to hollow out the glass until it is large enough and thin enough for his purpose.
