First Alexandra Rose Day charity, women selling roses
The First Alexandra Rose Day charity, women selling roses outside the Hotel Cecil on 26 June 1912. The charity was launched on the 50th anniversary of the arrival of Princess Alexandra from her native Denmark to marry the future King Edward VII. It began by raising money for London hospitals, and is still in operation today.
